PE and Sport Premium

Since 2014 the PE and Sport premium has been provided by the government to fund additional and sustainable improvements to the provision of PE and sport, for the benefit of primary-aged pupils. The funding is also given to encourage the development of healthy, active lifestyles. Information on how much PE and sport premium funding primary schools receive and advice on how to spend it has been published.

Thornton Primary School is eligible for this funding and received £21,700 this year.

Please download the statement below to find out how we use our PE and Sport Premium for the benefit of the children at Thornton.  We know that this additional funding has had a profound effect on our children's attitudes to and participation in physical activity through the introduction of our sports coach, Mr Bates, and we intend to provide even better opportunities through the funding this year as we have now completed a Multi Use Games Area (MUGA) on the school site which will facilitate before and after school activities as well as great outdoor facilities for PE lessons.
