    Headteacher, Designated Safeguarding Lead

Hello everyone. I have been the headteacher of Thornton since 2015 and I am the senior DSL as well as the Designated person for Looked after or previously looked after children and the Single Point Of Contact for concerns about children at risk of radicalisation.

Since I joined Thornton I have made the Safeguarding of the children at Thornton our key priority and staff are well informed and have regular training on how to Safeguard children. We have an electronic system where any member of staff can report concerns about a child and I read every one of these each day.

I am always ready to speak to any member of the school community who may have concerns about the welfare and safety of any child at Thornton; whether that be at school or out in the community. Please contact me in confidence if you have any concerns.

At Thornton Primary School we take our Safeguarding responsibilities very seriously. This means we ensure that everyone working in our school has successfully completed the necessary clearances to enable them to work with children.
This also means that we have staff members who are specifically trained to deal with safeguarding issues. There is always a trained member of staff on the school premises to deal with any safeguarding concerns that may arise.
These staff are:
By working together as a team, we firmly believe that we will continue to offer a safe learning environment for all our children.
Please ask to speak to one of these staff if you have any concerns.
