Helping Hands - school food & clothes bank

Helping Hands – Donation bank

We started a donation bank in September 2017 after we found ourselves meeting the needs of our families in school. We started supporting families who were homeless and being housed in hotels miles from the school, separated families struggling to provide for their children, families where a parent had lost their job and were not receiving any financial support etc, we initially started off by asking for support from staff members, and distributing food items collected from the Harvest collection. As we met more families the needs extended to household items, clothes, shoes, coats, toys, uniform support, etc. We then appealed within the school community and were overwhelmed with new and second-hand donations. We reached out to businesses and were fortunate to receive help from:

Faz Shoes outlet

Mr Ali’s store

And Greggs who donate leftover food for the families.

BCM – Birmingham Council of Mosques Charity who have been supporting us for the past few years and donating clothes and gifts every Christmas.

Our mission is to continue this support and continue to provide families with food, essentials, clothing, toys and gifts for religious festivals and holidays.
