Sport Premium

Since 2014 the PE and Sport premium is provided by the government to fund additional and sustainable improvements to the provision of PE and sport, for the benefit of primary-aged pupils. In the 2017 to 2018 academic year, the premium is also given to encourage the development of healthy, active lifestyles. Information on how much PE and sport premium funding primary schools receive and advice on how to spend it has been published.

Thornton Primary School is eligible for this funding and in the academic year 2016-17 received £11,430. Funding was £22,600 for 2017-18.

Please download the evaluation and statement below to find out how we send our Sport Premium for the benefit of the children at Thornton.  We know that this additional funding has had a profound effect on our children's attitudes to and participation in physical activity through the introduction of our sports coach, Mr Bates, and we intend to make even better use of this funding this year to enhance the sporting facilities on site with the building of a MUGA on the site of the former Caretaker's house.
