Firstly, let me say on behalf of everyone at Thornton, an enormous thank you for the
fantastic support we had at yesterday's Eid Mela! One of my highlights from the afternoon was the energetic dance-off hosted by our amazing DJ. This proved to be as popular as ever, and I am sure the children were astounded by the hidden talents that some of the staff displayed! It was great to see so many smiling faces enjoying all the different stalls and activities in the sunshine.
And thinking about the lovely weather we had yesterday, can I please ask you to be mindful of the very hot weather that is forecast for next week. It is essential that all children come to school with a named sunhat/cap and a water bottle, as well as wearing sun cream.
Have a great weekend!

We Can Speak French
Thornton Primary School will celebrate our Year of the Word in our French day on Friday 29th June. All the children will be involved in French activities throughout the day to show what they have learnt in an exciting way.
On the day children will be invited to dress in red, white and blue; the colours of the French flag. So, for example, they could wear blue jeans and a white t-shirt and red socks.
Like last year, the kitchen will prepare a French menu for lunch. The children will have a traditional chicken dish, chocolate mousse and crepes!
Please remind all children to bring in a £1 donation towards food and extra activities on the day.

The gardening club displayed their ‘meal in a barrow' competition entry at the BBC Gardeners World show. We had some really lovely comments from the visitors to the show and the children got to see some amazing gardens. We even got a free cooking lesson!
Year 6 had a fantastic time at Kingswood this week - they took part in lots of activities to develop their team building and communication skills, as well as their resilience and perseverance. They were on the go from the moment they woke up to the moment they went to bed and thoroughly enjoyed their experience. Here are just some of the activities the children loved during their 2-night stay.
