12th October 2018
This year seems determined to confuse us with hot sunshine on Wednesday and rain and wind today. It’s hard to know what to wear but from now on definitely a coat for your child will equip them for all weathers!
We have had a busy week, with Ofsted inspectors visiting us to undertake some important research on teacher workload. The teachers at Thornton work really hard and put in lots of extra hours to make sure that your children get the best possible opportunities to learn and make good progress. I am very thankful for such a committed and hardworking staff and do hope that the government finds ways to support teachers with the workload in the future.
Have a great (if wet) weekend everyone!
Sue Simmons, Headteacher.

Park Safe – West Midland Police initiative
The local police have visited the school this week and have discussed the problems we are having with some parents parking on the roads surrounding the school, particularly outside the school in the red zone and on the yellow zigzag lines, where you should not be parking.
The police will be patrolling the area in the next few weeks, and this could mean that they will be issuing tickets if you are parked illegally or do not have children wearing seat belts and they can also do insurance checks! They will be in plain clothes, so you will not see them!! (You have been warned).
Please consider the safety of the children when you are dropping off or picking up your children from school, and consider walking if you live locally.
Star Pupil assembly will be on:
Wednesday 17th October at 9 am
