Thornton Times

16th December 2016

Hello everyone.

What a fantastic turnout we had on Wednesday for our Community Christmas Fayre.  Thank you to the Friends of Thornton for their hard work to make the day such a success.  On behalf of all the staff can I say a big thank you for your support this year so far.  We hope you all have a peaceful Christmas holiday and wish you a very Happy New Year.

See you in January.     Sue Simmons, Headteacher

Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 Nativity

The Nativity was performed to parents on Tuesday, it was such a wonderful event with a fantastic turnout of family members.

The children were practicing their songs and lines for around two weeks prior to the show and it was a great success. Our amazing narrators Fatima and Matarr were superstars; who knows how they remembered all of those difficult lines…… actors in the making!

Thank you to all the parents that helped with costumes and ironing and thank you for coming to watch.

Also, a big thank you to everyone who joined in with Christmas Jumper Day. So far we have raised £432.00 for the “Save the Children” charity. Miss Hussain.

Christmas Fayre

The Christmas Fayre was a great success and a lot of fun was had by all. The Grotto was so popular and Father Christmas loved meeting all of the Thornton children. We had lots of stalls on offer, ranging from, food stalls, lucky dip, face painting and there was even a stall where you could have your nails painted.

Thank you to everyone who helped with the fayre and made it such a special event. A very big thank you to the Friends of Thornton who worked extremely hard to make the day such a success; the grotto looked absolutely amazing.

We hope everyone has a fantastic Christmas holidays.

We look forward to seeing you again bright and early, on Tuesday 3rd January 2017. This is not a Teacher Training Day so children must return to school on this day!

Merry Christmas from everyone at Thornton
