20th April 2018
Welcome back everyone!
I hope you had a super Easter break, despite the weather. It is lovely to see the children back to school, many in their summer uniforms. Please make sure that girls dresses are blue and white checks or stripes and headscarves are fitted, blue and white (see later in the newsletter). Boys can wear school uniform shorts (not football shorts) and footwear should be appropriate for school i.e. no toeless sandals, trainers or heels, please.
I am looking forward to starting my regular coffee meetings—please join me next Thursday for our first discussion about health and fitness in our community.
Have a great and hopefully sunny weekend.
Sue Simmons, Headteacher.
Sow and Grow
Well done to the parents and children that completed the “sow and grow” workshop. I hope you have learnt many new skills and will continue to develop these at home with your children and family. Here at Thornton, we are working to achieve the “Health for Life award”, there will be many exciting changes going on around school and we would appreciate your help and support. Remember to keep checking the newsletter for healthy recipes and up-coming workshops.
Thank you all for your support.
As you know, at Thornton we respect your choice for girls to wear headscarves to school. Just a little reminder though that girls should ideally wear the one piece headscarves in school colours—navy or white. This is for safety as trailing scarves can get caught and cause injuries. If girls do wear a proper scarf it should be secured (not with pins - only hairgrips please) and the ends should be tucked safely away to avoid accidents. Please see Mrs Simmons if you have any questions.
